Meet Maria Nicolescu, a joyful spirit who has a profound love for knowledge and life. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s in Bioproducts and Biorefineries in progress at Politehnica University of Bucharest, she is dedicated to both expanding her own horizons and sharing her expertise with others. She is passionate about learning new things constantly in different topics, from science to history, to the latest technology in gardening.
Her motto – “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own,” – speaks about her calm and mindful approach to life, focusing on the present moment and embracing each day as it comes.
In her spare time, you’ll often find Maria cooking for everyone who visits her. She absolutely loves expressing herself through food and creating an atmosphere of comfort and connection. She also cherishes the simple joys of life, whether it’s caring for her garden or affectionately bothering her cat.

About Maria Nicolescu
Maria’s mission at Wow Lab
Maria’s true calling lies in teaching and she is really happy to have the opportunity to inspire young minds at Wow Lab. Since October 2024, she has been guiding children in Detective Science, a role that allows her to blend her love for learning with her natural affinity for working with kids.
She believes that science should be taught through practical experiments, rather than making children memorizing formulas and principles that they will not remember tomorrow. Maria is dedicated to helping students explore the world of science in a way that excites them and makes learning unforgettable.
About the future of science education, Maria is convinced that teachers should spark the students’ curiosity and give them the opportunity to learn by doing. In the same time, she is aware of the fact that, for this to happen, the government should invest heavily in schooling and she is not sure that this will be happening very soon.
