About Elena Bacalum

Elena Bacalum is a true scholar of the sciences. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Chemistry, a Master’s Degree in Analytical Chemistry and a PhD in Chemistry, all from the esteemed halls of the University of Bucharest. Besides her passion for chemistry, Elena is a great lover of nature, finding her inner peace contemplation its wonders and capturing its essence through the lens of her camera.

In her free time, she is an avid reader, her love for books transporting her to unknown worlds. Whenever she can, Elena travels around the world in pursuit of real adventures and to unveil the beauty of other cultures. Guided by her life motto “I know that I know nothing,” Elena approaches life with patience and boundless curiosity. She believes that the horizons of knowledge are beyond our possibilities of understanding, but she is determined to delve deeper into some of the world’s mysteries through chemistry.

Elena’s mission at Wow Lab

Working at Wow Lab since 2021, Elena uses her expertise and passion for science education to light up the minds of young learners. Witnessing the sparkle of joy in children’s eyes as they engage with experiments is her greatest reward, this is what strongly motivates her to continue every day.

Choosing Wow Lab was a natural fit for Elena, being a great opportunity to share her knowledge in a fun and interesting way. Her great desire is to unveil the enchanting world of science to children and to make them love and appreciate chemistry.

Contemplating the future of science education, Elena recognizes the challenges posed by advancing technologies like AI. However, she remains strong in her belief that the children’s fundamental thirst for knowledge and the teacher’s unwavering passion will ignite and maintain the love for science. In Elena’s vision, the essence of education lies in nurturing the innate curiosity and wonder that make learning a lifelong journey of discovery.
